Cheap Flights from Paris: Complete Budget Guide (2026)

Paris has three airports and Europe's best budget carrier wars. Find cheap flights from CDG, Orly, and Beauvais to everywhere that matters.

The most romantic city in the world is also one of the most aggressively competitive flight markets in Europe. I did not come to Paris for the Eiffel Tower — I came because a Transavia flight to Marrakech cost €29 and I had a Tuesday to kill.

Three airports, a dozen budget carriers, and direct routes to Africa, the Middle East, and all of Europe. Paris is not just a destination — it is one of the best positioning hubs for budget backpackers on the continent. The Eurostar from London means you can chain London and Paris deals to cover nearly the entire planet for less than your monthly coffee spend.

Three Airports, Three Strategies

Charles de Gaulle (CDG) — The international powerhouse. Air France's global hub, plus every major carrier. Long-haul to Asia, Americas, Africa. RER B from central Paris costs €14.00 (Paris Region Airports ticket) and takes 35-45 minutes.

Orly (ORY) — The budget sweet spot. Transavia, easyJet, and Vueling all base here. Best for Southern Europe, North Africa, and domestic France. Orlyval plus RER costs €13.00 (Paris Region Airports ticket), or bus 183 plus metro for €2.15 if you have patience and a sense of adventure.

Beauvais (BVA) — Ryanair territory. Technically 85km north of Paris, which Ryanair defines as "Paris" with the same creative geography that lets New Jersey airports call themselves "New York." Shuttle bus from Porte Maillot costs €17 and takes 75-90 minutes. Only worth it if the fare is spectacularly cheap.

The golden rule: always search all three. CDG will be cheapest for long-haul, Orly wins for Mediterranean and North Africa, Beauvais occasionally steals the show on Ryanair routes to Eastern Europe.

Paris to Europe — Budget Carrier Battlefield

Paris sits in the geographic center of Western Europe, and every budget carrier wants a piece of the pie.

The Airlines Worth Knowing

Transavia — Air France's budget arm, and the king of Paris budget flying. Based at Orly. Incredible coverage of Southern Europe and North Africa. Porto, Barcelona, Lisbon, Marrakech, Tunis — all regularly under €60 round-trip. Their app sends fare alerts that are actually useful.

easyJet — Europe-wide coverage from CDG and Orly. Particularly strong to the UK, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Book 4-6 weeks out.

Ryanair — Beauvais base means lower fares but higher airport hassle. Eastern Europe routes (Krakow, Budapest, Bucharest) are consistently cheap. Worth the bus if you are heading east.

Vueling — Barcelona-based. Good Orly coverage to Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Slightly less chaotic than Ryanair.

Volotea — The niche specialist. Smaller European cities that other carriers skip. Nantes, Bordeaux, Sardinia, Crete. Useful for getting off the beaten path.

Paris to North Africa — The Euro-Africa Gateway

Paris has the strongest North Africa connections of any European city, driven by the large Francophone diaspora. This is not just a travel convenience — it is a pricing advantage.

Morocco in particular is absurdly cheap from Paris. A €50 round-trip to Marrakech puts you in a country where $25/day is a comfortable backpacker budget. That math is hard to beat.

Paris to Asia & Long-Haul — Air France's Hub Advantage

CDG is Air France's global hub, which means connections to everywhere and occasional sales that make long-haul surprisingly affordable.

What You Should Expect to Pay (Round-Trip)

DestinationBudget RangeBest Strategy

India€350-550Air India direct, or Gulf carriers
Japan€450-700Air France direct, or China Eastern via PVG

The French Bee Factor

French Bee flies budget long-haul from Paris to several destinations. When available, their fares to New York, the Caribbean (via Martinique/Guadeloupe), and beyond significantly undercut legacy carriers. Check their route map — it changes seasonally.

Budget on the Ground

Paris has a reputation for being expensive. It is expensive — if you eat at restaurants and take taxis. On a backpacker budget, it is very manageable.

Accommodation — Hostels run €25-45/night for a dorm. Generator Paris (near Gare du Nord), St Christopher's, and Les Piaules (in the 11th) are solid picks. Book 2+ weeks ahead in summer.

Food — Boulangeries are your best friend. A baguette sandwich costs €4-6. Crêpes from street stands for €3-5. The marché (outdoor markets) sell cheese, bread, and wine for picnic lunches that cost less than a coffee at a tourist café. Cook in hostels — Monoprix and Franprix have decent prices.

Transport — Single metro tickets (t+) cost €2.55 each, or load them on a Navigo Easy card. Walk the central arrondissements — everything from the 1st to the 11th is walkable if you have decent shoes.

Free stuff — First Sunday of the month: Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, and dozens more are free. Notre-Dame (exterior), Sacré-Cœur, Père Lachaise cemetery, Canal Saint-Martin, Luxembourg Gardens — all free, all day, every day.

Paris as a Positioning Hub

This is where Paris really shines for backpackers. The combination of budget carriers, Eurostar, and CDG's global connections makes it the best European positioning hub.

The Eurostar chain — London to Paris for £39-59, then Transavia to Marrakech for €40. Total: under £100 for London to Morocco. Try doing that with a direct flight.

The Southern Europe pipeline — Transavia and Vueling cover every Mediterranean coast city. Use Paris as your launchpad to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, and Morocco.

The Eastern Europe pivot — Ryanair from Beauvais hits Poland, Hungary, Romania, and the Balkans at prices that make the Beauvais bus ride worthwhile.
