Flights to Cancún: Budget Guide
Cancún is the gateway to the Riviera Maya and the cheapest international airport in Mexico to fly into from the US. Every budget carrier competes here, which means sub-$200 round-trips are the norm, not the exception.
30-day Cancun budget
Stay in the ciudad, not the hotel zone — $45–55/day is doable. Dorms run $15–25, street tacos are $1, and the ADO bus terminal connects you to the whole Yucatán. More in our budget beaches Mexico guide.
Flights to Cancun from your city
CUN is a fortress of cheap flights. Spirit, Frontier, Volaris, JetBlue, and Southwest all compete on the same routes — sub-$200 round-trips from most US cities are standard. Set a fare alert and wait; deals come weekly.

Seasonality data is not yet available for this destination.
December through March is peak — spring breakers and snowbirds own the place. September and October are cheapest: hurricane season scares everyone off, and flights drop 30–40%. The rain is real, but it's usually afternoon thunderstorms, not week-long deluges.
Best airports to fly into
Cancún (CUN) to downtown is a $2 ADO bus or a $25 taxi. To Playa del Carmen, the ADO runs direct from the airport terminal ($10–15, 1 hour). Skip the timeshare salespeople in the arrivals hall — walk past them to the bus counter.
